Prompted by VR and assorted Ikon threads over time I wonder if we should try to bottom out the perspectives on Locals v Tourists, "new" passholders v longstanding passholders etc etc.
It strikes me that there is always lots of griping when there is any change associated with ski hills from...

There has been a lot of discussion about VR's expansion, and all of the opinions on if it's a good thing, a bad thing, or just a thing. It got me wondering how many people have bought into the Epic or the IKON model for skiing and how many people are actively avoiding it.
How has the model...
Just got and accepted an invite to Steamboat, January 10-18 2020. Our friend is renting there for a month next winter. 3 bedroom condo in town, on the shuttle bus route. That is all I know.
We are nearing the official opening of the ski season here in Australia. But Mt Buller, Selwyn and Perisher are already open to skiing and boarding this season. The other resorts will open on Saturday.
Over the summer, Mt Buller was added to the Mountain Collective and IKON Pass. And Hotham and...
Epic, Ikon, Mountain Collective -- which is best? There may already be an informative thread on this. If so, just point me to it.
I'm particularly interested in which would be best in view of where next season's Gatherings will be held (if that has been decided).
Thanks!

My wife and I will be celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2020, so we’ve decided it’s going to be year of vacations for the two of us. No more dragging the 3 young adults along as they suck more resouces than a whirlpool in Lake Peigneur (look it up if you don’t know about it) Anyways, Kim...

Will the places that have the Epic pass be less crowded than the IKON resorts? and whos renewing their IKON pass?
Iwas pretty discouraged at some of the IKON resorts this year due to crowds. A friend of mines just came back from Whistler and noticed it was a lot less crowded compared to last...
I'm a new skier. I have been to Heavenly, Squaw, Sierra at Tahoe, Park City, Beaver Creek and Northstar. As such, I don't have a lot of first hand observations on what makes a ski area better than other.
I'm curious why there is a lot of anti Vail sentiment on this forum. I think their pass...

We definitely noticed a dip in mountain traffic over the weekend here. On Saturday, when we had 15", Ski-Ra and I never waited longer than 5 minutes to get on a lift. Interesting article on how Steamboat day pass is now $199 and also the effects of the blackout on the Ikon pass.

The linked article reflects the general sentiment of multiple places to which I've been this winter as well as my social media feeds. The numerous reasons for crowding have been discussed elsewhere. However, deserved or not, IKON seems to be the lightening rod in this.

Hi all,
Traveling to ski Steamboat for a week in late March. Liftopia is not helpful for Steamboat tickets so I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions for a less expensive way to buy in advance.
https://www.nzski.com/footer/mountain-collective/
Am I reading this correctly? If you go to the second paragraph is talks about the 19/20 Mountain Collective pass. Does this mean it is locked in again? I certainly hope so. I plan on using it in NZ this August and then US in early 2020 if it is...
Monday Februry 4 I will have 2/3 a day to ski (catching a plane back in the early evening).
We have an Ikon pass.
We skied several days at Brighton and Solitude last year.
My wife and I are staunchly intermediate skiers, with no interest (or ability) for the extreme stuff.
Do you think it’s...

We are heading to SLC the first week of March. Of the Ikon destinations, which is generally the least crowded on weekends? Our first day skiing will be a Sunday and last day a Saturday if there is anything left in out legs.
Edit: Sorry, forgot to put the prefix in and I don't see an option...
